NEIGHBORHOOD

Upper Noe Valley Recreation Center

Obtained through eminent domain in 1949, the Upper Noe Valley Rec Center was completely remodeled from 2006-2008 and features a full-size indoor basketball court, an outdoor basketball court, a junior baseball field, an outdoor tennis court, a fenced playground designed for children five and under, a dog run, and a large auditorium that doubles as an indoor play area. Considered a jewel of the SF Park system, the Rec Center offers activities, classes, and free play, 7 days a week. Situated directly across the street from 1647 Sanchez, this delightful park becomes an extended outdoor living room for the home, offering recreation and relaxation.

Sanchez slow street

14 blocks long, the Sanchez Slow Street runs from the 24th street commercial corridor to the Upper Noe Rec Center and is a widely used pedestrian boulevard with minimal vehicle traffic. Initially designated as a COVID-19 Response Slow Street in June 2020, this section of Sanchez was included in the initial 16 corridors re-designated through the new post-pandemic 2022 Slow Streets Program. In addition to reducing nearby vehicular traffic, the Slow Street has enhanced the sense of community along the block, increasing the ease of foot traffic to shops and restaurants along the 24th street commercial district.

Public transportation

In addition to easy access on and off the 280 & 101, 1647 Sanchez is just a block from the J Church stop at Day St & Church St. Running every 15 minutes during the day and 20 minutes in the evenings and late night you can be at the Embarcadero Station in 30 minutes.
